Summary
Philippa completed pupillage within Chambers in September 2020, having been under the supervision of Mark Watterson. Philippa accepts instructions in Children Law and Court of Protection work.
Philippa has established a practice in child-protection work concerning issues of drugs misuse, neglect, non-accidental injury and physical and sexual abuse. She is often instructed in cases requiring detailed and complex psychological assessment and has represented clients with mental health or learning difficulties.
Philippa is increasingly instructed in the High Court in cases concerning the inherent jurisdiction and the deprivation of a child’s liberty. Her recent work includes acting for a local authority in proceedings involving an acute issue of chemical restraint.
Philippa’s approachability and problem-solving attitude are key attributes to navigate cases with complex issues and vulnerable clients.
Philippa provides advice and seminars to local solicitors and social workers on law and practice, particularly in the time of increased remote working.
Philippa is a member of the North Eastern Circuit’s Diversity Outreach programme and works alongside members of Chambers to promote diversity at the Bar.
